Baburam Bhattarai is a senior Nepali politician, scholar-economist and former Prime Minister of Nepal (2011-2013). Originating from Gorkha District, he holds a PhD in regional development planning and played a key role in Nepal’s decade-long insurgency through the Maoist movement and later in the peace process. As of 2025, he serves as Chairman of the Nepal Samajwadi Party and continues to influence national politics and policy.
