Shiva Chandra Kushwaha, previously a leader in the CPN-Maoist Centre, has joined the Janamat Party in preparation for a by-election after being defeated by Ram Sahaya Prasad Yadav. Kushwaha is determined to defeat Yadav and has pledged his support to Janata Samajbadi Party chairman Upendra Yadav, who is contesting the election with the backing of the ruling coalition.
